Please be advised that
Apple® has instituted policies that will require all app owners to establish an iTunes developer account. Effective June 1
st, 2018, this will be required before applications or updates may be published to the App Store.
Google™ also has similar guidelines which require a Google Play developer account as well. These changes globally affect all apps in either store and are not limited to SchoolMessenger's Custom Mobile Apps.
Below you will find documentation to assist you in the creation of a developer account. This will give you the opportunity to take ownership of your CustomApp by setting up your own Google Play and Apple Developer accounts. Even though you must have your own developer accounts SchoolMessenger will continue to provide the same level of support we always have.
Before you begin please ensure you have the following information available:
If you have not yet received your SchoolMessenger email address please contact your Project Coordinator or Technical Support.
- A Credit Card
- Your Organization's D-U-N-S Number
- Your Organization's Tax ID/EIN
- An Apple device for two-factor authentication. More information on this can be found here.
- A CustomApp Developer Email Address from SchoolMessenger
There is a one time fee of $25 to set up a Google Play developer account. Similarly, Apple charges an annual fee of $99 for an iTunes developer account. Apple has recently launched a
fee waiver program through which educational,
government, and non-profit organizations can apply to become exempt from the developer fee.
